Curriculum
Growing in Grace Preschool provides a warm, loving place for your child to learn. All classrooms are equipped with an academic and christian curriculum that is designed to meet it's specific, developmental age.
The 2 year olds have a curriculum called "Buttercup". This curriculum is specifically designed for 2 year olds in mind. It's focus is on expanding children's language and vocabulary while still emphasizing the importance of learning through play. They have weekly themes as well as a focus colors and shapes that they work on. The primary focus of the 2 year old class is mastering the potty and social skills, as well as encourage their sensory development.
The 3 year olds have a curriculum called "Firefly". This curriculum builds on the 2 year old curriculum "Buttercup".
Weekly themes introduce new language and vocabulary words. They begin recognizing their name, engaging in science experiments and work on crossing the mid-line, music, movement, fine and gross motor skills. These are all pre-writing skills!! The primary focus of the 3 year old class is to introduce academics and learn through play!
The 4 and 5 year old classrooms have a curriculum called Houghton Mifflin "HM". It is the same curriculum that Grace Christian School uses only it's specifically designed for Preschoolers. It is a comprehensive curriculum that covers everything from writing, science, math, nutrition, social and emotional awareness, phonological awareness and more! Children also learn upper and lower case letters as well as the sounds that accompany them.
In addition to "HM" the 4/5 year old class has an early literacy curriculum called "Zoo-phonics". Children are introduced to reading and writing sight words. By the end of the school year, many children are able to write with control and are reading beginner books on their own!!
Each classroom will have report cards that go home at the end of each trimester.
While our curriculum is developmentally age appropriate, we respect and meet every child at their developmental level. We would never pressure a child to move to another level until they are developmentally ready. To know more about our christian curriculum, go to our Ministry page.
